Once, while playing as a DPS job in a randomly matched dungeon, I greeted the other three players at the starting point. But as I was typing my greeting in the chatbox, they had already rushed ahead, and I could see hordes of enemies swarming toward them. After sending my greeting, I quickly ran over to join the battle.
After the first wave of enemies was defeated, one of the players said, "We're getting hit, and you're still typing."
Then, suddenly, a vote-kick prompt appeared on my screen. It must have been unanimously agreed upon by all three of them.
I believe greeting others upon first meeting is basic courtesy—at least, that's how I see it. In this world of Eorzea, due to the Roulette matchmaking, some people might only fight alongside you this one time.
At the time, I was furious. After leaving, I told NuomiTuan about it, and she said that two of them were probably a couple, and the third might have just gone along with the vote (if not their friend, it was blind conformity). She told me to check the logs and add them to my blacklist. When LemonCool heard about it, he also found it hard to understand their toxic behaviours and suggested to personally take me through dungeons to level up.
For a while, I didn't want to queue for dungeons anymore, afraid of encountering unfriendly players. But remembering the support of good friends, I mustered the courage to enter that dungeon again and continued forward with new teammates.
Not everyone will understand your actions, and not everyone shares the same values.
Hydaelyn is no longer here to protect us, but there are still friends who support each other, helping you stay strong and move forward.
